Our Qualified Rehabilitation Officer has many years experience in supporting and working with clients to regain and improve their independence and safety. This could include individually tailored one to one training, familiarising and trialling of aids equipment and adaptations within any area of an individual's life.

Different areas where support can be offered can include:

• Independent living skills: all tasks needed to manage and organise your own home. We have various gadgets that can help maintain independence.

• Orientation and mobility: being safe when moving around both indoors and outdoors.

• Communication: reading, writing, using the telephone and being able to access information.

• Functional Visual Assessments can be carried out to identify the appropriate reading aids for individuals. Although clients of the society would have to fund the purchase of these aids themselves.

• Interactive Technology using specialist software's can also be assessed and training can also be arranged and supported.

• Practical advice and awareness can also be offered to family members and carers of Society clients of the difficulties sight loss can bring to an individual.
